WITH REGULAR YOGA PRACTICE, I OBSERVE THE BODY AND MIND CHANGING SHAPE – A SUBTLE AND BEAUTIFUL TRANSFORMATION.
In 1999 I had the great pleasure of studying with a lovely Yogi in Varanasi, India, while I was spending time in that amazing country, learning their dances both tribal and classical. This was my first truly deep experience with yoga, and it made a lasting impression. Though I practiced yoga in following years mostly as an adjunct for stretching before and after my dance classes, it has continued to speak to me through the years. Instructors that have inspired me greatly include many of the Walnut Creek, California YogaWorks teachers, and several wonderful instructors in Jakarta and Bali, Indonesia.
After being asked by several of my beloved personal training clients in Jakarta, Indonesia while living there, to teach them yoga - or incorporate it into our routines sometimes - I began dabbling my toes into this. I really enjoyed it, and began to witness the benefits that my clients were gaining from it. Most notably, with regular yoga practice, I observed how the body and mind changes shape – a subtle and beautiful transformation.
I am a graduate of the prestigious YogaWorks 200-hour teacher training in Walnut Creek, CA. What I love about this training is that it blends deep spirituality and yogic principles/teachings with an elaborately detailed, scientific approach with the body. My desire is to pass on the knowledge and understanding with my students so that they may discover the intricacies of their own practice. Very important to me is the sacredness with which I hold this space of teaching as we move, breathe and meditate together.
